The pandemic has provided an opportunity to unpack how work gets done in many companies by physically separating those doing the work from those managing them.

An insightful article in The Atlantic suggests that “management has become a title rather than a discipline. We have a glut of people in management who were never evaluated on their ability to manage before being promoted to their role. We have built corporate America around the idea that if you work hard enough, one day you might become a manager, someone who makes rather than takes orders.”

The war for talent demands that we understand what management should be.   Maybe we need more real management, properly understood, than more managers.  I hope you’ll take time for this article.   Is it time to  “Say Goodbye to Your Manager.” ?
